Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 15, 2026
Welcome to CivilEdge. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our application and use our educational services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to you. This includes:
- Account Information: Name, email address, password, age, gender, and educational background.
- Usage & Analytics Data: Time spent reading specific topics, test scores, quiz performance, daily study streaks, and interaction with our platform.
- Device & Log Data: IP addresses, browser types, operating systems, and device identifiers used to access CivilEdge.
- Payment Information: If you purchase a Premium Subscription, our payment processors (e.g., Stripe, local gateways) collect your billing information. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect to provide and improve our services, specifically to:
- Create and manage your personal account.
- Calculate your test score averages, 30-day/365-day statistics, and study streaks.
- Determine your position on the CivilEdge Global Leaderboard.
- Deliver personalized exam priorities and study recommendations.
- Process payments and securely grant access to Premium features.
- Send administrative emails, security alerts, and subscription notices.
3. Data Retention and Pruning
We actively minimize the data we store to protect your privacy. Our systems automatically prune historical test data. Test documents older than 365 days are securely and permanently deleted from our databases. Your aggregate statistics (e.g., lifetime average score) remain mathematically maintained without keeping the raw test files.
4. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We only share information in the following situations:
- Service Providers: We share data with trusted vendors (like Google Firebase for database hosting, and payment gateways) who assist us in operating our platform.
- Legal Obligations: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority, we may disclose your data to comply with legal proceedings.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
5. Security of Your Data
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information. This includes encrypted database transactions, secure socket layer (SSL) technology, and authenticated API endpoints. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
6. Your Data Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request the deletion of your account and associated personal data.
